EXPRESSIVE THERAPY & COUNSELLING

Sacha has experienced the limitations of talk-based therapies with

people diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, young children and

adolescents. To assist people in firstly identifying what is happening in their

body, along with expressing emotions and feelings therapeutically,

Sacha incorporates Expressive, Somatic, Play based and Sandplay Therapies

into her counselling practice alongside Acceptance Commitment Therapy and

Solution Focused/Strength Based approaches.

Expressive Therapies focus on using the body and emotions

for healing. It provides a framework including a wide range of methods

which can be used to explore presenting issues and causes

behind them. It is also empowering for children and young people as

it helps them to identify their own coping strategies and resources

to take into their future journey.

Some of the modalities Sacha uses her work with others includes:

- Emotional Release Processing

(movement, music - drumming, exercise)

- Symbol Work

- Visualisation, Meditation and Mindfulness

- Body Focus and Awareness (including body maps)

- Expressive Colour, Line and Shape

- Expressive Writing, Journaling

- Sandplay
